Um, I have an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ with 1GB RAM. I assume that it is a bad thing when I attempt to boot into Memtest86 but it immediately reboots?

This may not be a problem of your machine but of memtest86 and its (non-)compatibility with Athlon 64. Read this thread for more info:

Ah, thanks. I didn't really think it could be an amd64 thing, since I run in 32-bit... but I suppose it could still be that. I'll try it when I get home :-)
