I have the following in my ~/.Xdefaults
Code:
aterm*transparent:true
However, when I start up a new aterm, I do not get a transparent aterm. Instead I get one with a grey background.

However, if I use
Code:
aterm -transparent
it works as expected.

Any ideas?

Not sure if this is the problem or not, but try capitalizing the A in Aterm in your .Xdefaults file.

Aterm*transparent: true

works for me on fluxbox.

The cap "A" does not fix it for me.

Code:
aterm*transparent: true
aterm*shading: 25

Works for me. Are you sure your .Xresources are getting loaded?

Edit: Just reread your original message: what is .Xdefaults? I don't have one myself -- those lines above are clipped out of my .Xresources file. And if I make changes, I need to logout and login again before they take affect. (There's probably some command line way to reload them, but whatever...)

Seems that by putting the info in .Xresources, it is read, but not from .Xdefaults

So this works OK for me now...

Thanks
