when i try to veiw it it tells me I do not have permission. I have tried to login as root but no luck. So i'm stuck and have looked for info but found none. Is this a file that i have to write and if so where do i fine an example. Help please!!!! _________________ new to linux but learning |

A bit weird... you ARE root (or at least something similar) when booting from a livecd, you shouldn't have to worry about logging on as root.
Does the file exist? Just to check a few basics - you can get errors like "you don't have permission" from some things that you couldn't expect it from - trying to cd to a file for example. |

Have you chroot'd in before you tried to do this? If so then you dont want to view /mnt/gentoo/etc/resolv.conf, you just need to look at /etc/resolv.conf. _________________ The realOTW: http://forums.realotw.org/index.php
