Just in case anyone is wondering (im sure noone cares but I wont be able to be on the IRC channels anymore, OU (Oklahoma University) decided to block IRC ports, or so I'm assuming since IRC was working and now it isnt (using any client windows or linux).
So I'll be on my own for the most part exception for these forums. _________________ -Kow |

You could try "your freedom" http tunnel, granted it is not the best http-tunnel program around but its multi platform and free, so you just need a irc client that support socks proxy and your back on irc
If you want to give it a try you can find it at www.your-freedom.net _________________ The sentence below this one is true.

Well it looks like they found out I was using Your Freedom, now that is blocked so now I'm screwed.
ADDON: I think YF is failing and not me getting blocked more by the ISP, everyone else is having the problem -- looks like Your Freedom's days are numbered or are already in the past...
Noooooo god is trying to stop me from using Gentoo.. or something. _________________ -Kow |

get a bud with a nix box to set you up a bnc on a random port...then irc away..
or, maybe connect to an ssl enabled server..that may work..
or, use one of the billion php/cgi/java irc things on the web..
there..is always.. a way! _________________ -merc

If you have a shell account somewheres you can do tis with ssh also...
ssh -D1080 user@host
then make your IRC client use a SOCKS4 proxy. socksify should work with epic (haven't tried it tho)
That's how I managed to use IM and stuff from work, encrypted and bypassing the firewall rules |
