Hi,
I am new to Gentoo and I am having a lot of Problems whit DRI!

I know there are a lot of post but they are too complicate for me! ..and often they say different and contraddictory things!!!

I hope sameone can help me !

This is my situation.

Gentoo 2004.2 installed on my laptop with IGP 340M.

I have compiled the following option in the kernel 2.6.8-gentoo-r3 :

/dev/agpgart <*>
ati-chipset <*>
DRM <*>
redeon <M>

Then I have installed Xorg 6.7.0-r1

What I have to do now!?

I can't understand if I have to patch the kernel (I hope no! Too dificult for me) or not and simply (!) follow the instruction at http://dri.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/moin.cgi/Building
But at the end of this document there is written something about installation problem with Gentoo and I am not able to understand if this is my case ....

Thanks in advance .... Gentoo is very difficult ... probably too much for me!

Emily

Well.. I can make your life much simpler. So far what you did is good. Now, do an emerge sync to get the latest portage cache. Now, it's as simple as this:

1) First, type this:
Code:
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge xorg-x11
That will take a while to compile, but let it run.

2) Now, type this in:
Code:
opengl_update xorg-x11

Now, I didn't mention how to edit your xorg.conf file. You need to enable glx, and DRI in there... which if you don't know how to do, just ask... it's late right now so I don't feel like copying the exact lines over... :-p

Let me know how it goes! Gentoo is hard.. but once you learn it, you never go back!
