Hello,
X-Chat takes very long to connect to any server (about 2 mins), it always stops for a while at:
Code: |
--- Connected. Now logging in..
--- *** Looking up your hostname
--- *** Checking Ident
--- *** Found your hostname
|
Ksirc does the same. I am behind a router, but that should not be the problem as mirc under win works well. Can anyone point me into the right direction? |

The IRC server isnt getting an ident response. To connect faster, you have to have access to port 113 and run an ident daemon. |

Your router is probably dropping all traffic to ident port 113. Just setting the router to forward port 113 to your machine would do, so that the IRC server gets some kind of response from the ident port. - the problem isn't so much that you're not running an ident daemon, but that there's no reply whatsoever, which keeps the IRC server waiting until it finally gives up on ident. A closed port instead of a stealthed port would be fine. |
