pptp to watchguard

I have been trying for quite sometime now to get my vpn to my watchguard firebox X1000 to work. I am using the pptp gui client and have it to the point where it connects, get's an ip address (internal) but cannot ping.

Little more background;

I have MPPE patch on my kernel (2.6.8-r2) and all the other patches for ppp.
I have tried to debug but haven't gotten very far and am looking for some help.

Has anyone gotten this to work with gentoo and the gui pptp client?

Does pptp work if you use the command line client instead ?

What can't you ping ? The other endpoint of the VPN ? Or what is beyond it ?

the command line pptp does the same thing,connects gives an ip, no traffic will flow.

I cannot ping the end point of the VPN nor anything behind it. Windows works fine btw.
