Hello, I just did a fresh install of gentoo using the 2.6.8-gentoo kernel. Everything seems great for now accept k3b. I burned a couple discs and had no problems, then all of a sudden k3b starts crashing during the "power-calibration mode". K3b will just disappear from the screen (and I cant find it in running processes) yet the burining light on my dvd-burner stays on until I manually eject the disk. First time I noticed this it had been sitting there burning nothing for about 15 hrs. :-( I dual boot with XP so I tested the drive out there and had no problems. This is my first shot at atapi burning so I am wondering if I should go back to ide-scsi..

Here is my dmesg output fot the drive, its a lite-on dvd+-rw

ATAPI 40X DVD-ROM CD-R/RW drive, 2048kB Cache
