|
|
Everytime that I attempt to start cups by using the command:
Quote: | /etc/init.d/cupsd start |
cups just flat out freezes the whole computer. I am unable to reboot (ctl+alt+del), nor even stop the operation ctr+z. If I start it from the KDE shell mouse, audio, etc. freezes. I have no idea what I could be doing wrong...I even remerged cups, and I still get that freeze.
Thank you inadvance for you help...if I could get my printer working then I would not depend on Windows anymore.
EDIT: I am using a compilation of genkernel 2.6.8

Do the log files in /var/log/cups/ have any useful information? _________________ The free market gave me gonorrhea. |

Well until Gentoo I always used LPRng and I still prefer it to CUPS. _________________ The free market gave me gonorrhea. |

There's the LPRng manual. You'll probably want to emerge foomatic and download the appropriate PPD file for your printer from LinuxPrinting.org. _________________ The free market gave me gonorrhea. |
