|
|
After the great glibc-2.3.1 umask remask debacle my laptop is hosed and I am trying to get it going again. I have a sony vaio sr7k with a pcmcia cdrom. The faq says to enter this at the boot prompt so that the kernel will recognize the pcmcia cdrom drive:
Code: |
rescue ide2=0x180,0x386
|
However, there isn't a kernel image named rescue on the livecd so I entered:
Code: |
linux ide2=0x180,0x386
|
The kernel will boot and then:
Code: |
VFS: Cannot open root device "" or 75:04
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic:VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 75:04
|
I know this to work with an earlier iso but not now.
Does anyone know how to pass boot time options to the livecd kernel? Or does anyone know another way to fix this problem?
Thanks,
Gene |

Were you able, finally, to get Gentoo on that little laptop? How it can be done? _________________ Alexey Parshin |
