Grub boot floppy won't work

I'm following the alternate installation instruction on the gentoo website. On the first computer everything worked great. But when I tried to start the install on my wife's computer the grub boot floppy doesn't boot the machine. It gets as far as saying "GRUB" when it starts booting from the floppy and stops there. No error messages, just stops there. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Maybe the floppy is corrupted? Try formatting the floppy to erase any previous data:
Code:
fdformat /dev/fd0


Now, try installing GRUB again. If this doesn't work, perhaps you could provide us with information regarding the computer this is failing on.
