Hi,
I am a new user to gentoo. Before I did not put xdm in rc-update, when i ran startx as a normal user, i could su root.
Now i put xdm to run at default, i log in as a normal user but i could not su root anymore.

Other thing is that i can run the battery charge monitor as root but I cannot run it as normal user.

Anybody can help me out?
Thank you

First, the user has to be a member of the "wheel" group to be able to su root. If you need to run X apps as root, look at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/su-x.xml .
