I use this on windows but now I want something like this but for linux anyone know if exist for linux a program that can make a selection of files to optimally fill a CD?

If I understand what he describing it helps you pick what files to burn to cd when say you have tons of files of varying sizes that are gonna need multiple disks. It will select the optimum files to burn so you dont waste any space and say have to use more cds then ya should. |

I found sync2cd in portage but a can't get it to work :/ |

Sounds like a scripting program to me. do an ls -l, pipe that input to a script you develop. This script would loop through the input lines and keeping a sum of the filesizes.
While you are looping If your totalFilesize is less than 650MB you put the name of the file into a tmp file.
Once you reach 650MB you perform some program that takes a group of files and compresses them into an *.iso file.
If there are still more lines of input to go through. You drop the filesize to 0 and begin the process again. Lather rince repeat until you are done the ls -l input. |
