Hello!

Get yourself an impression of what audio recording with my soundblaster 64 awe gold (kernel 2.6; alsa) sounds like by downloading this small ogg (created with audacity).
I don't understand where the "bummm..bummm" comes from, as it's definetly not the mic's fault.

Thanks in advance for any hint
su (frustrated)

My AWE64's inputs are noisy as hell, and I've never managed to make them otherwise.

It could be that its just a not very good card by today's standards. Sorry I can't offer more help than that :?

Right now I am at the point where
Code:
arecord -f cd -v -v foo.wav
works perfectly after booting and not having started recording with any other sound application. Should work for you, too.

Was kann ich sagen ?

I have found all SB PCI have aweful pickup problems from graphics cards.

I got on to Creative tech. support and, while they did reply, they were being pretty dumb other than basic "keep you cables tidy" sort of stuff.

They obviously know there not much to be done about it.

If your post meant you had got a good recording it is probably since you are using a command line recording tool. I got aweful farty noises is I even move the mouse and your bummm bummm is probably the cursor blinking .

Ironically my 10yr old SB16 value CD EISA card is far better !

Any way its good to know a work around.

For the mo' my pb is I can play but no way can I record from the mike.
