Bueno, pues aunque he instalado xawtv, tvtime (este se ve mejor que xawtv) y alevt (para el teletexto), y aparentemente funcionan bien, alevt me muestra, en la página 902 el siguiente aviso:

The bttv-driver (v0.5.22) is buggy.
Don't try to run AleVT together with
anything that grabs video data from
/dev/video. The grabber will stop
running and some time later the
kernel will crash due to an out of
memory condition.
It seems to work with programs that
just use video overlay. Xawtv in
overlay mode works just fine.

Aunque no se me ha colgado el kernel, las Xfree sí que se me han congelado (quizá no tenga nada que ver y sea casualidad, una vez me pasó sin usar el teletexto) pero:
¿Cómo es posible que se considere buggy (defectuoso) el driver bttv incorporado en el kernel 2.6.8, con la de años y versiones que hace que viene incluido en el propio kernel?
Intenté instalar el programa Zapping, ya que permite ver la TV y el teletexto, todo en la misma ventana, pero no hay forma de compilarlo, siempre da un error. Las últimas líneas de los mensajes de compilación son estas:

Con lo del problema de compilacion, ya actualizaste las glib, y el gnome?
ese prdria ser el problema

Tanto de la glib como de la glibc tengo instaladas las últimas versiones: glib 2.4.5 y glibc 2.3.3.20040420-r1. En cuanto a gnome, realmente uso XFCE4, aunque tengo por lo que parece un % tanto de gnome como de KDE instalados, ya que se va instalando segun las dependencias de ciertos programas. No es probklema de dependencias, si lo fuera será un fallo del portage:

La verdad es que el zapping nunca he podido instalarlo, si te fijas en el mensaje de error, el archivo donde falla es audio.o, tengo el kernel compilado con soporte ALSA y emulación OSS.
