ok something weird happened today. I was running a single website with mail and forum database on it. Today I started using virtual hosting to add 2 websites and mail for both. As well as moved to a faster internet line. Everything went smoothly, except now when I navigate to the DocRoot of any of the websites the load time is strangely slow. The programs running in folders inside the DodRoot run fine and real fast. It's just the main sites that run slow. My forum loads way faster then it used to, the mail login screen loads real fast and the webstats page loads fast.

Has anyone had this happen or heard of this happening? Can anyone point me in a direction to look to fix this problem? Is it my virtual host settings? I can post the any config files anyone might want to see.

Thanks,
Ian

Do not enable either UseCanonicalName or HostnameLookup !
In the first case, VirtualNameHosting stops working, so you probably have that off ;-)
But the second can make things really slow, especially if you do not have a decent DNS setup.

Try it from different IPs, on the machine itself (via SSH if need be) and compare.

Not off the top of my head - but your description was a bit vague.
Could you list the locations / vhosts where these problems occur and the ones where they don't ?

www.smilezonline.com displays the first line of news and then waits for a full minute before slamming the rest onto the screen.

The forum loads in 2 seconds flat.

Meaning something in your main site is slow - very slow.

Run the apache benchmark program to find out why.
