I'm not sure what I should see after "chrooting"
When I ran the commands as they appear in the install guide, "livecd #/" is what appears as the promt. Is this correct? (I suspect not)
After continuing with the rest of the guide, and trying to unmount the relevant directories, it said something like "device still in use"
Other than that though, I'm getting no error messages throughout the whole process. I've done it 3 times now and get the same problem at the end each time. |

Greetings,
you have to chroot to join the new gentoo environment. There you configure the rest, like you do, and then you exit from the chroot environment. You have to exit and then you can unmount /mnt/gentoo. After that you can reboot the system and the previously mounted and chrooted gentoo installation will be booted.
You're on the right way.

Not only exiting the chroot jail but leaving the directory /mnt/gentoo is necessary to successfully unmount so change to antother directory. |

hi,
after exiting the chroot-jail, common error maybe that you forgot to unmount /mnt/gentoo/proc or any other device...
But somehow i already encvountered errors when everything was unmounted, and i was in / .
Anyway, if you are at the end of setup, i think it doesn't really matter, you could just do a 'reboot' and normally that should work. |

Thanks for the help. I am at work just now so I'll try it out when I get get home (can't wait hehe).
One of the things I was curious about though was that I did actually try to unmount the devices but the system said they were still in use (presumably meaning they can't be unmounted). Then when I did reboot, a grub error came up (error 15 I think). At the time, I didn't have the net handy to look it up but I'll make sure I do this before getting home tonight. |
