Ok How am I supposed to know what platforms to use for processors It would be nice to have a chart or something on the site well hopefully hear from someone! :)

That depends on what you mean by platform...

If you mean x86/alpha/amd64/etc, then if you're running a PC the answer is x86 -- unless you happen to have an amd64 processor.

If you mean -march or -mcpu flags, there's a list in /etc/make.conf.example.

If you don't mean either, then, I give up :wink:

It's quite old but maybe worth a look.
http://www.freehackers.org/gentoo/gccflags/flag_gcc3.html

If that's not enogh go to the gcc manual and look up the general compiler flags and the arch special that coresponds with your arch.
