I've just emerged xorg and configured it on my laptop. Now, I wonder if there is a way I could check, at what resolution is my monitor currently working and what are the V and H sync frequencies?

Most (fairly modern) monitors have the frequencies in their OSD.
You can compute the resolution from that, but why would you need to ?
You set the possible resolutions in xorg.conf yourself, right?
Since there will not be an unlimited number of resolutions it should not be hard to work out which one this is.

Well, my laptop LCD has no menu for viewing resolutions or frequencies. The thing is, that my monitor is 1400x1050 and I really need to make sure It's working on 1400x1050 and not 1280x1024. I set the possible resolutions in xorg.conf, putting 1400x1050 in the first place. So It really should be working on 1400x1050, right?

Okay, I didn't twig on the first one ;-)
But a laptop screen is not a "monitor" - just to avoid confusions like these.

Since you know what resolution it should go at, how about you configure xorg to only do that resolution ?

That can't be hard.

Oh and an LCD screen definitely does not have H and V sync frequencies - there's nothing to sync.
