Right now Im using genkernel to make a general kernel to boot off of so I can get some work done and then compile a real kernel later.
So, the situation right now it, Ive done everything (as per the guidebook) and its time to reboot. I reboot, grub works fine, the kernel uncompresses, but then when the kernel starts loading modules and such the cursor goes off of the screen. Eventually HD activity stops and I try logging in - it works, and I can give commands. THe problem is the cursor is at the top of the screen, all I see is _ on the very top line which results in me seeing nothing.
I tried booting using no init - same thing happened.
Any ideas?
BTW - using gentoo-dev-sources (2.6. |

You might like to disable framebuffering for the time being
If you boot up with
it should return to... normal, actually
Alternatively, maybe the genkernel-produced kernels support the nofb option as well - anyone ? _________________ >>> emerge (3 of 7) mcse/70-293 to /

And the LiveCD works normally ?
Then you'll probably have to redo genkernel; run it with configure=all (or some such; I don't use it) and disable framebuffering altogether. _________________ >>> emerge (3 of 7) mcse/70-293 to /
