hi all,
i've just purchased a laptop, so a nice addition would be a pcmcia wireless card. i've got an 802.11b/g network available, so a 54mbs card would be nice (but only if it's cheap! ;-) ).
my current laptop is using some kind of hideous, internal usb card - but it works beautifully with linux-wlan-ng and the prism drivers.
what i'd like is for some other gentoo users to give me their opinion on the best purchase out there. pitfalls to be avoided would good too. for example, i was looking at this: http://www.linksys.com/Products/product.asp?grid=33&scid=36&prid=427 until i found out that the chipset changed in version 4 and is no longer supported.
so, tell me how to spend my employer's money! _________________ "if an injury has to be done to a man it should be so severe that his vengeance need not be feared." - niccolò machiavelli |

Try with Orinoco, I have one installed with California dish at home, and it works fine, without any problems _________________ If u cant give advice, dont send the helpless to the HOWTO's way or Google.com way. |

I use an Intel 2200BG with ndiswrapper and it works fine. It's a mini-PCI and I got it for about $45 from Newegg. I don't use my card for "monitoring" or "mobile security audits" or anything that requires a real linux driver, so wrappers have always worked fine.
