Virtual Mailhosting guide: fetch from pop3

Hello.
I have looked at the Virtual Mailhosting System guide on gentoo.org, but was pondering how I could use it to fetch emails from pop3 accounts instead, not actually use local/virtual users and a domain.
my previous setup stored emails in each users home directory, storing everything in a database seems much better
