Hi everybody!
I need to run some programs that worked fine with gcc 2.95, but not very well with gcc 3.2. I tried to install gcc 2.95 on my Gentoo 1.4 installation, but I get into a nightmare of problems, and finally abandoned.
My idea now is the following: as it ran perfectly under Debian, I wnat to install a minimum Debian in a directory of Gentoo filesystem, say /debian. This way I will be able to chroot to this Debian install to ran this program, while working in my Gentoo KDE3 environment. Really cool, but... how can I do it? _________________ # kill -9 Kenny

Have you tried the ebuild attached to bug 8491? _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

Yes, I tried it and got to emerge gcc 2.95. The nightmare came after. The program I need to use doesn't compile well under Gentoo even with this version of gcc.
But the real reason for using gcc 2.95 is not this program, but my own programs. I wrote them this summer just after learning some C++ and used some things throughout them that are not very standard, and gcc 3.2 doesn't accept it. I will have to change this in order to make them compilable under newer versions og gcc, but for the moment I am in a hurry to get results...
As they worked perfectly under Debian, it is the easiest way I've thought about. _________________ # kill -9 Kenny
