|

When I download the tar and extract it with
#tar -xvjpf stage?-*.tar.bz2
I get an error after about 10 minutes:
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
And the last file it shows extracted is:
./root/.keep
CONTENTS-stage2 shows this to be the last file!
So why do I get this error?
And has anyone else had this error?
I don't recall ever getting this on a tar.bz2 file before!
md5 check yielded OK

i hope you are not using that '?" in the path you listed with the tar command. _________________ I've been away for a long time, bear with me. |

Since I only have stage2 in the directory--I'm assuming this is equivalent to a Dos like wildcard command for a single value. It extracted fine--but would this issue the error? |

DID you verify the MD5?
I did is exactly as you did, and I only had the single 1 there, but used both wildcards as you did and did not have a problem. _________________

Same command as above for tar but this time I redirected with
> test
the following path errors showed up:
tar: ./usr/share/terminfo/s/sun1: Cannot hard link to './etc/terminfo/s/sun': No such file or directory
All the other three errors show sun2, vt200, vt100-am in place of the above sun1 and s, v, and v in place of s.
So when there's a softliink--it gives an error because it's not a hard directory and issues the tar error. Interesting!
All other files in my test file redirect seem okay!
Maybe the stage2 for i686 knows it doesn't need these--but I don't know why since it seems it would want access to any of these terminfo files for any kind of emulation!
As previously mentioned, I did verify md5 OK. |

I just ran the full command again and got the same errors-see my post directly above.
#tar -xvjpf stage2-i686-2004.2.tar.bz2 > test2
The stage 2 was not from the minimum install X86 livecd--I downloaded it from U of Colorado, Denver LUG-USA
My hardware consists of dual processors i686
3 Scsi hard drives (sda, sdb and sdc)
Just wondering why I got the tar errors with the softlinks and noone else seems to be getting them?
Other than that--now that I know what files are effected--I probably don't need them anyway or I'll check and see if there in another directory. |

At this point, I don't think that missing these four files under terminfo is that big of a deal so I'm going to continue with the install! Maybe soneone will have the same error and we'll figure it out from there!
Thanks for the input! |
