|
|
Hi,
I'm new to Gentoo and on my 10th attempt I think. This time I messed up the grub.conf file and I'm at the part of the install were you reboot the computer. I need to know how to get back into that file and edit it. I know where my mistake is and I can't get in to change it. Can someone please help?
Thx |

you can typeat the prompt once you have chrooted back into the system if you need to start from grub itself. If you just need to edit /boot/grub/grub.conf you will still have to chroot and make your edits then. _________________ I've been away for a long time, bear with me. |

If you have rebooted, you need to boot from the live-cd again. Mount your partitions again and chroot to the environment, then edit your grub.conf by opening it
Code: |
nano -w /boot/grub/grub.conf
|
make the changes, reboot and remove the cd. And boot into your gentoo _________________ AMD Athlon64 X2 4200+ AM2

kardiackid, geniux has a much more detailed description than I and you should thank him... also, if you have not rebooted then go ahead and chroot and edit the file using nano. _________________ I've been away for a long time, bear with me. |
