there is no such thing as the best partitioning.
if you are not sure how to build up the partitions, then maybe something like lvm2 would be a good approach.

Simple is good. It's probably best to stick with:
/boot
/
/var
Having a separate /var keeps your logs from filling up your root partition. Depending on where you store your mail you'd want to isolate that partition as well (it's usually on /var as well, but not always). Size-wise, you shouldn't need more than 10 GB or so for the web and mail partition unless you are planning on a serious machine. |
