XOrg doesn't work with Framebuffer? [psudo-fixed]

Ok... MAAYBE I'm a n00b, maybe I'm an idiot, but when I try to run xinit, I get the error "Cannot run in framebuffer mode. Please specify busIDs for all framebuffer devices"
so.. what do I do? on my x86 box I took out FB support to get it working, but I can't quite do that on my ppc64 system -_-
vid card = radeon 9800 pro if that helps.

ran xorgconfig to get a good starter on setup but ad to edit xorg.conf manually to set resolution high enough.
It didn't accept the radeon driver (any ideas why?) but ati worked. It flickered a LOT, so I tried emerge ati-drivers and restarted fluxbox. Now I've only seen it flicker once (no times would be optimal, of course, but as u can see by my other posts, I've got quite a lot of problems to worry about and this is now a minor one)
