|
|
I had a power outtage a couple of days ago, a situation that my gentoo
machine has survived unscathed before, but this time upon reboot I had a
number of problems:
The following "needed services" were not started:
checkfs, localmount, clock, bootmisc
Additionally, 'atd' did not start/load (?), i.e., '!!' instead of 'OK'
I did a couple of reboots hoping it was a one time thing, but the above errors
continued to showup.
I noticed that during the reboot that the various filesystems(ext3, reiser)/partitions did not _appear_ to be checked (part of "checkfs" ?),
though dmesg shows that their journals were called into action.
The system did have a lockup a few minutes into one of the subsequent
reboots, but _seems_ to be fine so far since then (I do have some usb
module issues, which I consider a separate problem for a separate
'topic').
Any ideas on how to check/reverse/solve the "needed services" problem?
Thank you. |

Prehaps your disks got shocked or something, I was just getting an in-depth look at how gentoo boots from my older brother, he showed me a folder (not sure which one ) but It contained a bunch of services which are supposed to execute on startup, and maybe they got deleted by the power outage (kinda unlucky). Sorry I can't be of more help. ![Sad :(](images/smiles/icon_sad.gif) |
