Here is the thing i am trying to do.
To allow visitors who have a legit account on my qmail server to send email from every where in the world to everyone. Example using webmail.
Now it seems that i can only receive mail from the outside world, but can not send any. Saying something about domain not being in rcpthosts file.
I wouldnt want to open a relay server, so if there is a way someone have done this, please let me know. |

What you need is either:
a) A webmail server under your own control. Tell your visitors to use the webmail server when they are travelling. Put the webmail-server in your rcpthosts. This is a good solution for people who travel and use internet cafes. We use IMP for webmail. http://www.horde.org/imp/
b) Use smtp auth. Using this technique will allow your guests to authenticate themselfs before sending mail and thereby bypassing the rcpthosts file. You can begin by reading some more at http://www.palomine.net/qmail/relaying.html. That page has some useful information about relaying in general and a also mentions smtp-auth. I find the smtp-auth solution very good when I bring my laptop home from work. I can read/send mail with my work-setup. |
