|
|
I'm unsure if this qualifies as a GUI question for this non-GUI forum so please forgive...
I need to set the default resolution when booting the live CD to 1024X768. What parameters are needed for me to do this when booting? Also, I have a fast PC but a small 14" monitor (to save desktop space) and would like to boot on THAT pc with an initial resolution of 800X600. Again, how is this accomplished?
Thanks!

Since the LiveCD contanis a very complete kernel, you can specif boot-time resolution like you can on any bootable Linux CD.
Add the correct video mode to
after the rest of the boot line, or in case you don't know the correct line yet, add
and you will get a list of supported video modes.
The resolutions you mention don't apply, since the installation is in text mode, not in a GUI.
In text mode, the only thing that matters is the number of character per line and the number of lines on screen.
Default IBM PC "resolution" is 80x25, which translates to 640x400 for 8x8 characters.
You can usually choose from at least 80x43 (EGA) 80x50 (Ext EGA) and a few high-res ones that go to about 130x60 - impossible to read on a 14" screen!
Try it out! _________________ >>> emerge (3 of 7) mcse/70-293 to /
