hello.
I do not seem to have a .gtkrc file
should I just create one and put the above mentioned commands in it?
I have a feeling that it will not work :/ _________________ PCs nearly always come with Microsoft Windows as their operating systems, but the "OS," as it is called, can be changed to a non-Microsoft operating system with a little work. |

.gtkrc is for gtk1. you want .gtkrc-2.0, and, as I said, don't touch it if you are using gnome, and if you are using gtk-chtheme or something like that you'd better use .gtkrc.mine so that your changes don't get overridden.
Btw, all these files should be in your home folder. |

@ dioxmat
Thank you for your patience with me, I have no experience whatsoever of fiddling with the gtk themes.
it now works
I had to emerge gtk-chtheme to get a ~/.gtkrc-2.0 file, I then created .gtkrc.mine and in there I put the two lines
Code: |
gtk-key-theme-name = "Emacs"
gtk-can-change-accels = 1
|
I also ran and changed some stuff, all gtk apps now looks so much better.
so, Thanks again, you have saved my teeth from alot of grinding _________________ PCs nearly always come with Microsoft Windows as their operating systems, but the "OS," as it is called, can be changed to a non-Microsoft operating system with a little work. |

Hmm... I've just emerged firefox-1.0_pre-r2, and for some reason the search box doesn't work any more... It just sits there. I've deleted my compreg.dat file, and it doesn't seem to have made a blind bit of difference. Has anyone else noticed this?
Edit: Ack, this is intensely annoying - I didn't even realise how much I used it! _________________ No-one's more important than the earthworm. |
