Hi, I have just recently reinstalled Linux with the 2.6 kernel (gentoo-dev-sources). Also, I have just emerged kdebase, along side with other kde ebuilds. The problem is when I start-up kde.... here is what it shows.
Code: |
#startkde
xsetroot: unable to open display ''
xset: unable to open display ""
xset: unable to open display ""
xsetroot: unable to open display ''
startkde: Starting up...
startkde: Running kpersonalizer...
kwin: cannot connect to X server
kpersonalizer: cannot connect to X server

Because there is no X Server running, right? Try "startx". I hope you have X configured.

Here is the last screen I get from startx
Code: |
New driver is "ati"
(==) Using default built-in configuration (53 lines)
(WW) RADEON: No matching device section for instance (BusID PCI:1:0:1) found.
Fatal Server.... |
So I ran xorgconfig to configure the xorg.conf file, and now when I do startx:
Code: | ...
(==) Using config file: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf"
Using vt 7
(WW) RADEON: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:1:0:1) found
Symbol drmGetClient from module /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/radeon_drv.o is unresolved!

waiting for X server to shutdown..
