Did you untar your stage tar ball to /mnt/gentoo. IMHO there should be a /mnt/gentoo/bin/bash. |

i had forgoton to extracte one of the tar balls but even after starting the installion again and i deffently extrated both stage the tarball and the snapshot and copyed all the source files from distfiles to my machine i still get the same error, and somthing else this time when i open make.conf or make.conf.example thes two files are compleaty empty wich is kind of stramge and i cant imagen tha the compilation could go ahade with out that file, and i'm still having alot of problems mounting /mnt/gentoo/proc just keppet giving file dose not exisit but then if i try to create the folder it says file already exsits.
have been getting kind of strange little problms from the command line it saying dirtorys do not exsit even if go 'ls' it lists the diectory but when i try to cd to it it says it dose not exist not always if keep chaning to the root and moving around dir by dir i can get around.
any any tips or help would be much help i cant wait to get my getoo system up and running alot more hassale than the likes of suse but i'm sure it will be work it
Thank you

Strange there is a thread with people that do have similar problems with a stage1 install.
Check the following:
- Is my stage tarball really for my arch? => Check tarball
- Is my stage tarball OK? => Check tarball MD5
- Is my livecd OK? => Check iso MD5 and burn again with low speed.
Post any errormessage you get. |

Okay, download a stage1 (or 2, whatevr you're using) and do:
cd /mnt/gentoo
tar -xvjpf stage?-*.tar.bz2 _________________ Running Slackware Linux (I no longer use Gentoo, but I still like this forum ) |
