When I am in the terminal, and some other apps, if I press the back button, delete button, or the tab button the screen flickers. Basicially, the screen stays as it is, but a white line will appear over it, quite thick, which flickers and moves up and down, as I hold down the button.
Does anyone know what the problem might be? What can I do to fix it? It doesnt happen on any other user account, only mine.

My guess is that terminal bell is disabled, and you have the visual bell set somewhere along the line. I'm not sure exactly where this is set, but check out and search for bell-style
That should hopefully give you enough info to find it.
