I'm at a total loss here, and awfully PO'd
I have a mobility 9700 and AMD64 3400+
As ATI has sh@tty linux and 64 bit linux support, I haven't been able to get them to work.
If anyone, anywhere, anytime has gotten them working please let me know.

Try using the DRI drivers in the kernel. |

by 'work' i assume you mean the hardware acceleration? if so, i've been stuck in the same position for a while (radeon 9200). i tried the kernel drivers when i first started using gentoo (with no success) but i'm gonna try again and see if my new knowledge shakes anything loose. it would be REALLY nice to hear, directly and simply, whether or not ANYONE has gotten acceleration working for ati on amd64. if its simply not possible until they release drivers (which i'd kinda resigned myself to) then i'd like to stop worrying over it...thanks! _________________ now stand back, I gotta practice my STABBIN'... |

I meant 3d acceleration, yes.
But i just got off the phone with ibuypower, and I'm returning this computer:
15.4 1280*800
AMD64 3400
8 cell battery
1 GB kingston 400mhz
128 MB ati radeon
60 GB 7200 rpm drive
SiS mainboard
In favor of this one:
15.4 1920*1200
AMD64 3700 (yay)
12 cell battery (yay)
1 GB kingston 400mhz
64MB Nvidia (less ram, better card)
60 GB 7200 rpm drive
I TRADED UP! and its cheaper

3D works fine if you set your arch to x86 rather than amd64.
(Stating the obvious, I guess, but it's good to clarify these things. ) |

heh heh, yeah, I was thinking about throwing an x86 install on there just so i could at least see the card in action. thanks for the feedback (although i'd still be overjoyed to hear from someone who got it working?) _________________ now stand back, I gotta practice my STABBIN'... |
