I've been looking into getting NWN and have been wondering a few things.
1) What does the Gentoo ebuild install? From what I can tell you need to have purchased the windows version of the game for the CD key. Do you just run the ebuild and from there you put in the cd key and you're able to play?
2) Do the expansions have to be installed manually? I assume I would have to buy the windows cds here as well, is that correct? |

if you want to use resources from your windows installation of nwn, just emerge the ebuild and follow the instructions. if you want to get the resource data (1.2GB) apply the use flag "nowin":
Code: |
USE=nowin emerge nwn

i've already filed "bug reports" to enhance the ebuild games section with the addons, so you don't have to install them by hand. until now, you will need to follow the instructions on the bioware site, to install the addons.
check this url, that should be all you need. if you have problems look here. _________________ If you fall off a cliff, you might as well try to fly. After all, you got nothing to lose.

Do I only need to buy the game for the CD Key? The expansions you buy for the actual content on the cd right? |

you only need a valid cd-key for nwn and for all extensions another one. only if you have nwn gold edition the key is for all three (i think so...).
the ebuild is just for nwn. you have to install the extensions manually. is quite easy and described on the download site @ nwn.bioware.com _________________ Dell Latitude d610 1.6Ghz 1GB

The gold edition is nwn and the first expansion correct? If I got the gold edition would I install that manually or use the ebuild and install the expansion part manually? |

gold is nwn + sou. platinum(not yet out) is all three.
Installing it manually is simple enough, the game data is in zip rather than cab so it's really just unzipping and running the fixinstall script. Full instructions on bioware's site. |
