Hi there,
Referring to these threads I made bootstrap.sh work but it gives errors with (I think) texinfo
Message ist
Code: |
make[2]: *** [texinfo.info] Error 132
make[2]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/texinfo-4.2-r5/work/texinfo-4.2/doc'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/texinfo-4.2-r5/work/texinfo-4.2'
make: *** [all] Error 2
!!! ERROR: sys-apps/texinfo-4.2-r5 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 13, Exitcode 2
!!! (no error message)

emerge -p portage says
Code: |
emerge -p portage
These are the packages that I would merge, in order.

Referring to these threads I made the bootstrap process work maybe there is something I didn't get

Variable form make.conf are:
CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu"
CFLAGS="-march=pentium3 -O3 -pipe"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
What's the problem now? Should I use something like
USE="-texinfo" ? _________________ thxMartin

Just to confirm, you really are running on a Pentium 3, right? And your GCC version is 3.x? I think I remember you trying to install 1.2, with a 2.95 compiler, no? _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

Yes I was trying to install Gentoo 1.2 but emerge from my ISO had problems so I switched to Gentoo 1.4 (wich uses gcc 3.x after chroot - if I got everything right)
I told gentoo to use pentium 3 because cat /proc/cpuinfo gives me something like
.
Mendocino
.
And some thread told me that I could use the pentium 3 option
In fact I got an ABit BP6 Motherboard with 2 Celeron 300A inside, and I'm running them with 300MHz
At the moment I'm not at my PC so I can't give you more Infos about _________________ thxMartin

Can you find that thread? According to http://www.freehackers.org/gentoo/gccflags/flag_gcc3.html, you need pentium2 for a Mendocino. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

I had this same problem with texinfo. There appears to be a bug report on it. Following the suggestion made there, I inserted MAKEOPTS="-j1" into /etc/make.conf, and this appears to have solved the problem. |
