Well, I like dark colorschemes, so I have all black with green font color.
What drives me nuts are websites that havn't a background color defined, so my konqueror provides me a black side with black font color.
I know I'm not the only one who likes dark colorschemes, but how do others handle this?
Changing to userdefined stylesheet undermines the efforts of those who did it right.
Writing a stylesheet on my own had no effect at all.
Changing in ~/.kde3.3/share/config/konquerorrc BgColor from 0,0,0 to 255,255,255 has no effect (maybe because I have an BgImage defined for konqueror filemanager).
I do feel stupid, because I did not find anything or anybody complaining about black fonts on dark background because of dark colorscheme, so I think I miss something?
Any tipps are appreciated |

Konqueror is broken for dark color schemes. Just like the whole koffice suite. I wouldn't bother with it. There's no point. I don't know if 4.x is doing any better in that regard or not.
This is one of the causes that made me flee to firefox (as much as I dislike it, it's the less worse of a bunch of problematic browsers). In firefox I use the Stylish extension, which can define custom style sheets on a per-site basis. There's a central repository with css's for lots of sites. So, you might even be able to decorate most of the webs you use with a darker colors set without writing a single line of css code. You can edit them or create one from scratch as well.
I and ekz made one for this very forum, as well as for the gentoo bugzilla:
http://userstyles.org/styles/6707
http://userstyles.org/styles/7812
I now that "user firefox" is not what you wanted to hear. It's not my cup of tea either. But my eyes can't stand whiteish themes (they would burn into flames), and konqueror is a no-go if you use darker themes. |
