|
|
My university blocks ports 6660-7000 so I am unable to directly connect to any IRC servers... is there a way I can get around that without the use of a machine outside the school network?
I don't know if the university runs an HTTP proxy server that I could tunnell it through or not... if there is a program I can use to scan for one.
I've also heard about using a local proxy but I dont' know how it works.
Can someone help? |

if the server you're trying to contact is using a port that is blocked by your firewall (6660-7000) then you have to either run a proxy on the actual firewall or on a host outside of the firewall. you can't get through any other way.
i suggest you try and find a host that offers shell access, but they're probably quite rare since shell accounts are easily abused.
hope it helps!
