Dri with Xorg and mobility 128 (M3)

I know there are many posts about getting ati drivers working with dri but my graphic chip is a bit old (ATi Rage Mobility 128 16MB) and according to the the Gentoo-Ati-FAQ (http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/ati-faq.xml) the Ati drivers are not requied.
I have compiled the dri support in the kernel for the Ati Rage 128 and the agp support for 440BX chipset. I have also uncommented the Xorg config file for loading the Dri.
When i check glxinfo i always get "Dri not loaded"
Maybe have i to compile the kernel dri anly as modules?
I`ve also tried to type "opengl-update xorg-x11" but i don`t know if it`s useful.
