Code: | Bringing eth0 up via DHCP [!!]
ERROR: Problem starting needed services
"netmount" was not started |
Hello,
Ive just installed Gentoo AMD64 version with kernel 2.6.5. I've managed to solve every problem i've had and have gotten to the Linux login, but I need to now emerge KDE. Heres my problem. When I boot, everything loads and is [OK] except for the lines above.
And then when I log in, I tried pinging goole.ca, and my server, but nothing happens! Is there anyway I can fix this problem?
I have a Realtek 8139C and it is installed in the kernel, and I have my network .conf file set up correctly.
If you have an answer, please give me the exact step by step instructions on how to make this work. Thanks |

First of all: did you enable a module for this card in your kernel? What does ifconfig eth0 say? _________________ 60s: sex, drugs, rock'n'roll

And ifconfig eth0? Does it say
Quote: | eth0: error fetching interface information: Device not found | or displays info about your NIC? _________________ 60s: sex, drugs, rock'n'roll

I am responding from a booted liveCD and I just ran ifconfig, it doesn't say any errors, and It has no info about my NIC. What should I do? |

Don't use the LiveCD, boot your PC normally. The livecd most likely needs you to modprobe 8139too. |
