Code:
Bringing eth0 up via DHCP                                                             [!!]
ERROR: Problem starting needed services
            "netmount" was not started

Hello,
Ive just installed Gentoo AMD64 version with kernel 2.6.5. I've managed to solve every problem i've had and have gotten to the Linux login, but I need to now emerge KDE. Heres my problem. When I boot, everything loads and is [OK] except for the lines above.

And then when I log in, I tried pinging goole.ca, and my server, but nothing happens! Is there anyway I can fix this problem?

I have a Realtek 8139C and it is installed in the kernel, and I have my network .conf file set up correctly.

If you have an answer, please give me the exact step by step instructions on how to make this work. Thanks

First of all: did you enable a module for this card in your kernel? What does ifconfig eth0 say?

And ifconfig eth0? Does it say
Quote:
eth0: error fetching interface information: Device not found
or displays info about your NIC?

Don't use the LiveCD, boot your PC normally. The livecd most likely needs you to modprobe 8139too.
