I have bought myself a nice new laptop with an amd64 and want to install gentoo on it. But now I have a really big problem! I got myself the amd64 minimal install cd. From the CD i cannot access the Harddrive in any way! Neither with cfdisk, nor mkreiserfs, nor mounting. I have an old gentoo 1.4 install cd and it works just fine with that... What is wrong with the 2004.2-amd64 minimal install cd? or can i use the old 1.4 cd to install somehow? I don't really think so but i have seen more unthinkable things ;)

and another not-so-urgent problem.. dokeymap always fails... i always get the standard us layout. this also works with the 1.4 disc

HIT!! ... no really.. everybody I have talked to has had to search on the forums for a fix for this.. I do not think that there is any modern AMD64 MB that does not need this!! why was this not made to load on boot of the CD??? oh well.. I spent 30 mins trying to find it when I started too, if that is any solace :)

It's a bug in the install cd I believe, and has nothing to do with motherboards.
