I am using a live cd not the minimal one but the other and i am having a problem getting out on the net. I have a cable modem connect to a wireless router the, machine i am installing on is wired to the router and i cannot seem to get to the internet i tested it with ping i even pinged it with one of my other machines and it pinged successfully but i can't get it to ping anywhere on the network. I think it is dns but i am not sure please help. Another thing the gentoo machine specs that i am using is 350mhz pentium 2, 128mb of ram, 128 mb ATI Rage, two nics, one cd-rom drive, and one floppy drive. |

When you pinged it with one of your other machine, did it show a local ip-address (like 127.*.*.* or 10.*.*.* etc) or did it show up with an ip-address in the range of your isp?
If you have a local ip address you probably want to set your box up using DHCP.
You can see wether you DNS is working properly. For example if
fails, but
