ive got a few problems....
i want to change the name of my system....
i edit /etc/hosts appropriately, but when i try to start apache or proftpd i get errors about the host name etc, if i change back to the old system/host name, it works fine...
ive emerged samba, and configured it.
when trying to run smbd, i get the following error:
lpstat: Unable to connect to server: Connect refused
and one more thing...
ive emerged the new Phoenix ebuild, and i need to install flash.
ive emerged netscape-flash, is there anything i need to do after that as flash still dosnt work.
thank you,
George, |

You want to edit both /etc/hosts and /etc/hostname. Also, after editing those, you'll want to do /etc/init.d/hostname restart. If that doesn't do the trick, try rebooting. _________________ "An empty head is not really empty; it is stuffed with rubbish. Hence the difficulty of forcing anything into an empty head."
