I'm successfully using KDE 3.3.0 but because sending over smtp doesn't work anymore I want to go back to kmail 1.6 (kio smtp).
How can I downgrade just this package (kmail or kio-smtp)? |

Are you sure it isn't working? Just upgraded to 3.3 and first time brought Kmail back up after the upgrade it was missing all my folders, email,....
No inbox, outbox,.... Didn't bother looking at the kmailrc file, figured it was screwed up somehow. So copied my working 3.2 kmailrc over and came right up. So something is wrong with 3.3 kmailrc. _________________ Support bacteria – they’re the only culture some people have.”

Had the same experience.
Started Kmail a second time, and all was well. |

His didn't and starting mine a second time didn't work. KDE-3.3 must be really buggy.
I have an issue where /usr/kde/3.3/share/config/kdm/sessions/*.desktop files are 600, so can't choose anything but default, failsafe and custom at login. Fixed it by changing to 644. Then come to work where have a play box and the same files on this machine are 644. So not an issue on this box.
Will somebody stop the insanity?
benjaming did you try moving kmailrc from previous kde folder in home. You can also try deleting it and restart kmail. _________________ Support bacteria – they’re the only culture some people have.”

Well you could unmerge kdepim and emerge the one you want. Not sure if it will work of not. Haven't tried mixing and matching.
I did a qpkg on kmail and kdepim and kdelibs comes up. Don't remember seeing that before. _________________ Support bacteria – they’re the only culture some people have.”
