this is not in good manner, but I'm replying to myself with a screenshot to show off.

Be warned dailup users, to show off the full shebang this screenshot had to be pretty large.

The font used is standard Luxi Sans [XFT]

That would be great if someone can do a screenshot of Slashdot with the old freetype and the new one.

I loved to see the big difference.

Ok, I was curious, so I did it. This is a shot using freetype-2.1.2-r1, and this one is a shot using freetype-2.1.3.

I am not decided yet which I like more. :-)

edit: After comparing, I think I like the older one better. But I didn't try to tune for 2.1.3 yet.

Yours,
Larde.

I changed autohinted from false to true, now slashdot looks like this, I think that's gotten a little bit better.
I use
Code:
Proportional: Sans Serif, Size 14
Serif: Agfa Monotype-times new roman-iso8859-1
Sans Serif: Agfa Monotype-arial-iso8859-1
Monospace: Agfa Monotype-courier new-iso8859-1, Size 12
Min font size 10

in phoenix. I guess that's pretty standard.

edit: btw, I've got an LCD screen, so I might see some optimizations in a different way...

Larde.
