I have a question about colour schemes. I've beem modifiing a vim colour file that I downloaded. My goal is to have the colours in vim and gvim the same. As part of this procedure I defined all of the colors in my Xdefaults file. I've run into some problems. Consider these sample lines:
.Xdefaults
xterm*color4: mediumaquamarine
.vim/colors/neilwatson.vim
hi Comment ctermfg=4 cterm=italic term=italic gui=italic guifg=mediumaquamarine
In gvim that works fine. In vim comments come out unexpectedly (highlighted in gray). My color file is called from .vimrc. What have I missed? _________________ The true guru is a teacher.

Get yourself a terminal which supports 88 colours properly, then you won't have any problems Failing that, try :set background=dark. |

set background=dark is in the color scheme file.
I am using xterm that comes with XFree86. I believe that does support 88 colours. _________________ The true guru is a teacher.
