|

Hello all,
I have a G3 900 iBook thats supports the normal airport (not extream). Unfortunatly the airport card has broken, and to make matters worse apple no longer make them (as they are **&*s) which means the price for second hand ones have skyrocketed.
Now, does anyone know If the normal airport slot is capable of taking a normal pcmcia card (it doesn't look big enough) or any sort of half size (if they even exist????). On another thought, does an adaptor exist for apple airport extream???
Basically I am looking for an alternative to an standard airport card that wont cost hundreds of the finest GB pounds (please no usb adaptor sugesstions). |

kingmoffa,
That's an unfortunate predicament. I noticed the other day on Accelerate Your Mac that some people have tried using a Sony VAIO wifi card in the Airport slot. There are photo galleries about it here and here.
No word about Linux compatibility, but this path may be worth exploring. |

thanks for the reply.
This does look interesting. I think it all depends upon price.
Just because it look like it fits, I am tempted
My apple airport card works kinda, it struggles to pick up signals and will cut out for medium term periods, maybe I can get it fixed
:crosses fingers. |
