Ok, I recently pathed and installed the latest ivtv-r4. I tried to emerge MythTV and I am getting a Block when I do a emerge --pretend mythtv. Its saying the x11-xorg package is preventing the emerge.

1.) Is this a real issues (x.org doesnt work with mythtv)
2.) If so, going back to xfree  will fix?
3.) What about installing from sources at mythtv.org?

Any help is appreciated.

What is Xorg blocking? Is it blocking the whole of myth, or some other package?

I have mythtv-0.16 and the new xorg working together without any issues (or blocking when installing).

Out of curiousity, how are you doing the emerge?

If you are currently running X11R6 and you're doing something along the lines of:

Code:

# ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -uDav mythtv

you might be pulling in X.org as a dependency. Try adding

Code:

~media-tv/mythtv ~x86
~media-plugins/mythmusic ~x86
~www-apps/mythweb ~x86
~media-plugins/mythweather ~x86
~media-plugins/mythdvd ~x86
~media-plugins/mythgame ~x86
~media-plugins/mythvideo ~x86
~media-plugins/mythnews ~x86
~media-plugins/mythbrowser ~x86
~media-plugins/mythgallery ~x86
~media-tv/ivtv ~x86

to /etc/portage/package.keywords and you can avoid using ACCEPT_KEYWORDS, and that way you won't pull unstable dependencies.
