Just like Mac OS X, I really like the icon-zooming feature, and snapshot of windows on the bar.
Probably, some sensor plugin as well.

gDesklet and aDesklet both use python as interpreter. Python is fantastic, but it is not worthy the
overhead for eye-candy anyway. Is there any hand-crafted bar using fvwm component ?

Thanks for fvwm developers and community. FVWM rocks.

FvwmButtons lets you do an iconbar and you can change the icon on rollover, but no fancy zooming effects. Most people use engage (in portage, google for howtos or http://www.lude.net/edocs) to make the bars with fvwm.

Yeah, you should try Engage, a lot of people use it nowadays.

It's possible to use a FvwmButton with a icon-zoom effect (http://www.zensites.net/fvwm/guide/advanced_buttons.html), but imho it sucks.

In fact I have surveyed before I post this.

gDesklet is awesome, but it depends on python; so it is with superkaramba. The python runtime overhead is too much for such a small candy.
engage rocks, too. But it depends on englightment, right?

Any other choice so far ?

I've tested gdesklets and engage. I'd say gDesklets with starterbar-plugin is the better choice, because it's easier (still) to configure than engage and it doesn't take more cpu-usage than engage (some people meant engage takes not so much cpu-usage when you run it in opengl-mode, but that's wrong. It DOES take much enough, about 60% for me)

re-nice.

Could you give us some data about the overhead? It is heard that gDesklet would consume lots of cpu time.

Sometimes, it is not easy to find the resource murderer. I once found that X would consume almost 100%
cpu time, if the konquerer runs for a long time. I then switched to Firefox.
Later, I found if I disable the netscape plugin interface of konquerer, things changed. YMMV.
